Areas of Practice

Prof. Senol’s clinical work centres on gynecologic cancers and advanced gynecologic surgery:

  • Gynecologic cancer surgery covering the uterus, cervix, ovary, vulva and peritoneum
  • Laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery
  • Robotic surgery
  • Hysteroscopic surgery
  • Organ and fertility preserving surgical approaches
  • HPV follow up and colposcopy
  • Treatment of myoma (fibroids) and endometriosis

Conditions Most Often Seen

Gynecologic oncology covers cancers that arise in the female reproductive organs. The three most common are:

  • Endometrial cancer, which begins in the lining of the uterus. Abnormal bleeding, particularly any bleeding after menopause, is the most important early warning sign.
  • Cervical cancer, which develops in the neck of the womb and is closely linked to persistent HPV infection. It is one of the few cancers with an established screening pathway.
  • Ovarian cancer, which often produces vague symptoms such as bloating, early fullness or pelvic discomfort. There is no approved population screening test for it.

Benign conditions that may still require subspecialty surgery, such as large or recurrent fibroids, endometriosis with deep involvement, and ovarian cysts whose imaging features are unclear, are also managed at the clinic.

Approach to Treatment

Two patients with the same diagnosis rarely need the same operation. Age, the stage and spread of disease, plans for future pregnancy, other health conditions and personal priorities all shape the plan. For this reason the assessment starts with the whole picture rather than the imaging report alone.

Open, laparoscopic and robotic surgery are not competing methods; they are different tools suited to different patients. What determines the choice is not the technology available but the extent of the disease, the patient’s general condition and what she expects from treatment.
